Doxylamine succinate is an antihistamine which is also used to treat short term insomnia, or the difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep. The drug is useful to treat cold and allergy symptoms such as runny rose, itchy and watery eyes, sneezing, and hay fever. In this regard, doxylamine works to inhibit the body’s histamines, which are substances in the body that cause allergic symptoms. Regardless of the reason for its consumption, it is highly advised that doxylamine succinate be taken only as directed, and not for longer than 14 days, as it is only recommended for short term use. When taken for a longer amount of time than is advised, the body can build up a resistance, or tolerance to its sedating effects. Taking larger doses than directed can lead to other, more severe symptoms, such as tremors, disorientation or coma. Thus, it is recommended that if insomnia persists beyond 14 days, to consult a physician, as this can be an indication of an underlying medical condition, and to explore other, more effective treatment options.

If you’re not sure which Doxylamine Succinate brand to get, we recommend this highly reviewed one on Amazon: Kirkland Doxylamine Succinate. At under $6, you might as well give it a go and see if it works for you.

As with most other drugs, Doxylamine Succinate Tolerance can go up if it is taken too much. Upping your dose may or may not have adverse effects, so please don’t do so unless under professional guidance.
